I was staying at The Lodge and got my food to-go to eat in my room. It was a chilly evening and the shrimp and grits hit the spot! My meal was ready quickly, hot when I picked it up, a hearty portion size, and delicious. I would get it again!

Still a great spot for cocktails and dinner near sunset.. fast service in December low season. We tried an old fashioned and beach mojito- both tasty .. apps of seafood au gratin and shrimp soup were excellent. Wedge of romaine salad was enough for 2 and tasty too. Clean beach ambiance with cushioned and comfortable seating..

The BEST meal we have had all year!!!! This place is gorgeous and watching the sunset over the beach as we ate was magical! Our server was so sweet and personable she made our dinner such an enjoyable experience. The drinks, appetizer and our meals were all cooked and or made to perfection! It is SO rare that everything start to finish just keeps getting better! Afterwards we went outside to sit by the fire and watch the stars...such an incredible place! My only critique is they have some great gluten free and allergy friendly options but maybe they need to add a gluten/dairy free dessert.

Highly recommend if you are staying at The Lodge at Gulf State Park. Clean and classic space. Understated coastal vibes. Friendly wait staff. Food recommendations: Appetizer: Honey Glazed Goat Cheese 100% delicious! 1. Ribeye was delicious and large! 2. Crispy Skinned Snapper. 100% order this fish if you like fish! Served with a tortellini. The cream sauce was light and complimented the dish well. 3. Lemon blueberry Bread Pudding: just make sure they serve it warm...they forgot and had to bring us new bread pudding. But it is delicious. Do not order: 1. Do not order the crab cakes. There was basically zero crab in them. 2. Brownie sundae: name was very misleading. There is no brownie! 3. Banana pudding: very meh.

Not sure of the mixed reviews but this food was awesome! I really loved it and so did everyone with us. We had breakfast twice and dinner once. Each time was exceptional. The buffet was really good. All the food well prepared and properly seasoned. Some of the best potatoes and grits, especially for a breakfast buffet. I opted for the banana bread French toast both time and have zero regrets! Not too sweet and a nice sear on the outside. Bacon was crispy and delicious. For dinner I had the ribeye with potatoes and sautéed spinach. Steak was a little fatty but still great. I included fried oysters and so glad I did. One of my fave parts of the meal. Bread service was delicious as well. The service was friendly and helpful. This being inside the hotel is a huge draw for me.

Staying at the restaurant, so we stopped in for a late lunch. Our server, Destiny, was great-friendly, attentive, and efficient. I got the Blackened Ahi Tuna. Very tasty--not much 'blackening' and no zing in the wasabi, but great tuna, nice fresh veggies, and overall very good. My wife got the Farmers Market Salad and added shrimp. The salad was excellent, with a nice vinaigrette and fresh greens and veggies. $9 for 4 small shrimp seemed a bit overpriced. Good wine list and a smattering of beer and other alcohol. Not an extensive bar, but adequate.
